Mythos…Is Coming.

Remember when Blizzard was good? (Don’t flame me for that) I’m talking about the good old days when Diablo was the main flagship for Blizzard and not just World of Warcraft. Those glory days, ahhh, sitting hours in Battle.net joining games and dueling people, until I got banned for some reason, blah.
Well you may have wondered what happened to the Diablo franchise? Besides the new Diablo III game coming out, there’s one thing that’s lacking, the original developers. Yup, after Diablo II, many of the original developers left Blizzard to open their own studio. Unfortunately, the ill-fated Hellgate: London was created. Although it was a fairly solid game, it was not able to reach expectations and costs, and ultimately had to shut its doors.
A small game, also died with it that day, Mythos. Mythos is a cartoony diablo clone, but you can’t really say that because it’s made by the same people. Technicalities aside, when Hellgate went down, so did the dreams of releasing Mythos, until HanbitSoft Inc. took up the task of bringing it back to life. Months later and there were only a few bits of data being release, many thought the game was still doomed. Until…
What does this all mean? Well, not only are they teasing us on twitter, but a look at http://www.mythos.com/ gives us a teaser trailer as well.
But wait…
There’s now a closed beta sign up! This really perked some ears, as this thing may truly happen, joy! Perhaps soon we will relive the fun we had while playing Diablo. Grouping, running dungeons, dueling, and griefing.
With new technologies, we’re sure that the game will be able to deliver a brand new platform that may turn quite a few heads in the gaming industry. Will Mythos be a competitor for Diablo III? Maybe. It’s a fair stretch for the company, due to the banking that Blizzard can put behind promoting Diablo III, but Mythos has an advantage with veterans of the field and being able to reach a broad audience online through various distributions. If Mythos is able to launch first, we bet they’ll easily be able to pull in quite a following.
Be sure to head on over to http://www.mythos.com/ to join in the closed beta invitation.
