Mini-Game Dispatches Players Onto A Course of Terror
- New Solo Challenge for Runes of Magic -
SAN FRANCISCO – September 8, 2009 – The curtain goes up on the ‘Course of Terror’! The clown Malatina offers a new solo challenge for plucky adventurers in the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, Runes of Magic. Once per day, she will give players the opportunity to enter a challenging, obstacle-packed dungeon. The mini-game will be added to the game in the final content update for the full launch of ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy’, on September 15th.
The dungeon consists of a chamber containing 45 fields, each with a seal that hides a range of different obstacles to challenge the adventurer. Each of these demands a special tactic: For example, ice barricades can only be overcome by using a heavy artillery piece. Players have to use the right tools for the job during the game‘s ten minutes. Clown ghosts constantly appear, making matters even worse for our heroes. Once adventurers discover the field containing the key, they’ll receive rewards as well as an entry into the next round. Special titles can also be unlocked using ‘ghost cards’, to reward players for completing the challenge.
There is also additional work in progress on other solo challenges which will be added to Runes of Magic. “We like to always look for ways to keep our players entertained and offer them plenty of variety,” commented PR Manager Philipp Senkbeil. “MMO players don’t always want to be in groups and mini-games are a perfect change from the routine of raids.”

New High Level Dungeon Introduced in Runes of Magic
- The Origin Leads Players Along the Elf Kingdom’s Sunken Paths -
SAN FRANCISCO – September 3, 2009 – The secret of the Elven folk in Runes of Magic has laid deeply hidden in the Aslan Valley for centuries. Yet dark demons have corrupted the Ents, the peace-loving guardians of this holy place, which is known throughout Taborea as ‘The Origin’. Beginning September 15th, brave adventurers can explore Runes of Magic’s high level group dungeon, ‘The Origin’ and support the Elves in leading the Ents back to the righteous path.
In the instance, players encounter opponents which are closely bonded to nature and have settled under the open skies in an abandoned Elven city. Together with elemental beings and the powerful Ents, players face mutant beetles and bloodworms, which have brought about the corruption.
Players will have to confront four bosses before they can unlock the secret of the Elves and bring the sacred tree, Falynum, back to its senses. The encounter with the giant tree presents a huge challenge: In the course of the combat, Falynum summons assistance. Later on, an opponent who was already believed to have been beaten returns to the fray.
After ‘The Origin’ goes live on September 15th, additional instances will be added to the new zones of ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy’. With this, Frogster is ensuring that the second chapter of Runes of Magic will also give players a broad range of challenges in the high level areas.

Demon Lord Sighted for the First Time in Runes of Magic
‘Varanas Nightmare’ Presents a Challenge for up to 150 Players
SAN FRANCISCO, September 1, 2009 – Frogster America, Inc. today announced that as part of the current content update ‘Naga’s Awakening’, players will get to meet the namesake of Runes of Magic’s first chapter, the Demon Lord. The Demon Lord haunts a nightmare version of the city of Varanas in a new open combat feature, ‘Varanas Nightmare’, in what the company calls a ‘Public Encounter’. Public encounters are instances where players do not need to be part of a party or guild to enter, however the content is difficult and grouping is recommended.
The high level scenario is made up of three phases in and around the ‘Varanas Nightmare’, which has afflicted the minds of the city’s inhabitants. Up to 150 players can simultaneously combat the terrible dream and fight to stop the Demon Lord. The first targets for player groups are dimensional portals which are spread around the burned out city. Twenty portals need to be closed before the task is completed and phase two begins. This is where players have to overcome three world bosses in succession. Should the adventurers achieve victory within three minutes, the third and final phase begins. If the players fail, then the scenario begins again from the first phase.
Well coordinated raids are required to defeat the third opponent since this character is actively supported by the Demon Lord. The Demon Lord doesn’t actually engage in combat himself, but he does heal his vassals making the challenge difficult and victory very satisfying. Killing his minions doesn’t only bestow reputation and honor on the hero for mastering the scenario, but as the toughest challenge in Runes of Magic to date, there is also outstanding loot for the victors.

RUNES OF MAGIC PATCH 1.9 ‘NAGA’S AWAKENING’ HERALDS SECOND CHAPTER
- Comprehensive Update Marks the Start of ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy’ -
SAN FRANICISCO – August 27, 2009 – Frogster America, Inc. today announced that the first content from the forthcoming second chapter of Runes of Magic is now live with patch 1.9. The Naga are back: After a thousand years of banishment, the snake-like beings have succeeded in passing through the magical wall which once kept them from human civilization. The new content update, ‘Naga’s Awakening,’ doesn’t just tell the story of the start of the Naga invasion, but also at the same time marks the beginning of Runes of Magic’s second chapter, ‘The Elven Prophecy’.
Players can explore the ‘Weeping Coast’ right away. In this swamp territory, adventurers will meet the Naga for the very first time. New quests tell the history of the region and ultimately lead to the bottom of the ocean. In the group dungeon ‘Heart of the Ocean,’ alongside fish people and other ocean dwellers, there lurks a powerful leader of the snake-like beings, ready to seize unwary players. With ‘Naga’s Awakening,’ Frogster has also raised the level cap to 52.
The content update also expands Runes of Magic with more open combat, and a Public Encounter. In ‘Varanas Nightmare,’ up to 150 players can step into nightmare world where the regional capital Varanas is in ruins and under siege by undead skeletons and nightmare beings. At the end of the three stage challenge for experienced player groups, there is an encounter with the Demon Lord himself – this is the first time that the eponymous fiendish lord of the first chapter makes an appearance.
Additional content from the second chapter, ‘The Elven Prophecy,’ including the new Elven classes and NPCs, will be published in the second phase of the launch on September 15th.

Runes of Magic Sends Players Into the Savage Lands
- Explore the Dark Secrets of the Rainforest -
SAN FRANCISCO – August 6, 2009 – Up high, hidden in the tree-tops of the rainforest, the Elves once erected their settlements in the ‘Savage Lands’. Now Frogster is revealing the secrets of this new zone that will make its debut with the launch of ‘Chapter II – The Elven Prophecy,’ of the award-winning MMORPG, Runes of Magic.
Situated northwest of the ‘Weeping Coast’ lays a bastion of elves. The peaceful atmosphere of the thick forest might be disorienting to hapless adventurers, making their way through the woods. But here, they have to face the Apeman and worst of all, the Naga, who broke through the defensive barriers in the west and started building defensive outposts to secure their supply lines.
Further away, adventurers will come across a small camp, known as The Fungus Village. Innocuous at first glance, the Fungus King and his guards will defend their lands ferociously against any intruder. Players will be able to explore the ‘Savage Lands’ during the final launch phase of the second chapter in September. With the raising of the level-cap in August, the adventure begins for all level 52 characters and above.
